Dog Adopted! Kingston (Joey)

TBAR-Success-Adopted-KingstonKingston, now named Joey, is adopted! This sweet dog was at the shelter and on his last days before euthanasia when Kelly offered to foster him and save his life. Lucky for this sweet fellow Kelly and her family fell in love with him and decided to adopt. We call this a foster failure and we LOVE foster failures because that’s one more pet that gets a home of their own for life!! Thank you Kelly for joining our long list of foster failures. We hope this list keeps growing. If you’d like to adopt a dog, cat or horse, please visit our web site www.t-bar.org to see all the animals that are waiting for their forever home. Take advantage of our half off adoption fees for dogs and cats this month too!

Pet of the Week: Gray Gelding

TBAR-Adoptable-Gray-GeldingHere is the Gray Gelding we recently took in getting his hooves trimmed. He came to us about a month ago emaciated and with cracked hooves. He’s now getting plenty of grass and feed and gaining weight every day. Thank you Colton DeAeth of D8th Horseshoeing for fixing his feet for us. As you can see he stands nicely for a farrier and is a pretty sweet fellow. He’s about 10 years old and has a great personality. If you are thinking about fostering or adopting you might want to consider this guy. He’s going up on the web site this week to start searching for his forever home. www.t-bar.org

Pet of the Week: 7 Puppies!

TBAR-Puppies-for-AdoptionThis week we have seven puppies for pets of the week! These cute babies are 8-10 weeks old, are dewormed and had their first vaccination. They will come with a voucher for spay / neuter, rabies and the booster shot. All that for a reduced adoption fee of only $75 during the month of February. Send an email to [email protected] or call 936-878-2349 if you’d like to adopt a puppy!

Event Recap: Adoption Day Recap

TBAR-Adoption-Day-Brenham-PDCTSeveral TBAR members gathered at Puppy Dawgs & Cat Tails in Brenham, TX on Feb. 13th. Valentines day weekend was the perfect time to share our foster dogs with the community and enjoy the beautiful sunny day. Here are a few pictures in front of the store. Lisa, the owner of Puppy Dawgs & Cat Tails is an animal rescue advocate and supporter. She welcomes us to have adoption days in front of her store any time and has even let us put adoptable cats in the store so they could find new homes. Thanks to her two cats were adopted! Success Story: Sir Henry

TBAR-Adopted-Sir-Henry-CatSir Henry was adopted this week! We’re so happy that one of our wonderful kitties found a forever home. If you’re thinking about adopting a cat or a kitten take a look at the ones on our web site www.t-bar.org. We have kittens and adult cats that are desperate for forever homes and February is the month to do it since we’re offering 1/2 off on adoptions right now. That’s only $35 and it covers spay / neuter and all vaccinations. Adopt, don’t shop!

Pet of the Week: Roman (dog)

TBAR-Roman-Dog-Pet-of-the-weekThis week the pet of the week is Roman, a Labrador Retriever / Great Dane mix. He is an adult neutered male, and weighs in at 82 pounds. His new family will find him to be a fun and goofy pup who is easy to feed,¬†walks well on a lead and has learned to sit. He’s still working on his other manners, such as stay, shake paws, and crawl. He’s also getting used to crating!

February only: Our TBAR adoption fees are only $75 for dogs!

Contact [email protected] for more info on Roman or any of our other animals!

Success Story Update: True Seven (now Pablo)

TBAR-Success-Throwback-PabloNothing makes us happier than to hear from people who have adopted in the past and send us pictures of their rescue kids with their forever family. Here’s one of those pictures that touches my heart in a special way. Pablo Redcloud aka True Seven, Picasso and Tejas came to TBAR as a baby. He went to several foster homes and was even adopted but he had some bad habits that were tough to break and he managed to out smart his people every single time. The last time he came back we sent him to Juan Vendrell for training and that helped a lot but his antics were still too much for the next adopter too. Even though Pablo was too much for them they didn’t give up on this beautiful boy and sent him to another trainer. This trainer was Otis Dyer. Otis is a gifted trainer who didn’t give up on Redcloud and continued working with him and eventually fell in love with him and decided to adopt him for himself. Here’s what Otis has to say about Redcloud now:
I have really become fond of my rescue horse Pablo Redcloud. He has become a trusted partner and a good friend, plus a fun ride. I’m glad I was able to adopt him, we are a good fit. Thank you Dan Matula and Melanie Hewett-Deaeth for allowing me to adopt him and give him a forever home.

This story warms my heart and is a perfect expression of what Valentine’s Day is all about. We get the animals out of harms way but that’s only part of rescue. The true rescuer is the one who adopts and works through the difficulties a rescue animal might have and loves them unconditionally the way Otis loves Redcloud. Have a heart, adopt, don’t shop. We have lots of dogs, cats and horses that need homes. Go to www.t-bar.org if you want to help rescue an animal.

Event Recap: Chili Cookoff 2016

The chili cookoff was a huge success! The weather was fantastic so a lot of people rode or drove out to say hello, meet our dogs, eat some chili and bid on our wonderful silent auction items. Thanks to all of you we raised a LOT of money to pay vet bills this year. Thank you to all the wonderful TBAR volunteers for working so hard to make this event a huge success. We are all thankful to Independence Harley Davidson for hosting the event and to CASI for organizing chili cookers. Thank you to Leannasaurus Rex for the excellent music and to all of the chili judges for testing and selecting the best chili of the day. We had more chili cookers this year then ever before so it must have been a difficult task. In True Blue Animal Rescue we face a lot of challenges and see a lot of the negative things that people do to animals. Seeing the huge gathering of good people that care about animals and come out to help gives us renewed faith! Thanks for reminding us that good people that care far outweigh the bad. Knowing that keeps us pushing forward toward our mission to END abuse, neglect and overpopulation and we will never give up until that happens. Thank you for being a part of our team!
