Pet of the Week: Roman (dog)

TBAR-Roman-Dog-Pet-of-the-weekThis week the pet of the week is Roman, a Labrador Retriever / Great Dane mix. He is an adult neutered male, and weighs in at 82 pounds. His new family will find him to be a fun and goofy pup who is easy to feed, walks well on a lead and has learned to sit. He’s still working on his other manners, such as stay, shake paws, and crawl. He’s also getting used to crating!

February only: Our TBAR adoption fees are only $75 for dogs!

Contact [email protected] for more info on Roman or any of our other animals!

Success Story Update: True Seven (now Pablo)

TBAR-Success-Throwback-PabloNothing makes us happier than to hear from people who have adopted in the past and send us pictures of their rescue kids with their forever family. Here’s one of those pictures that touches my heart in a special way. Pablo Redcloud aka True Seven, Picasso and Tejas came to TBAR as a baby. He went to several foster homes and was even adopted but he had some bad habits that were tough to break and he managed to out smart his people every single time. The last time he came back we sent him to Juan Vendrell for training and that helped a lot but his antics were still too much for the next adopter too. Even though Pablo was too much for them they didn’t give up on this beautiful boy and sent him to another trainer. This trainer was Otis Dyer. Otis is a gifted trainer who didn’t give up on Redcloud and continued working with him and eventually fell in love with him and decided to adopt him for himself. Here’s what Otis has to say about Redcloud now:
I have really become fond of my rescue horse Pablo Redcloud. He has become a trusted partner and a good friend, plus a fun ride. I’m glad I was able to adopt him, we are a good fit. Thank you Dan Matula and Melanie Hewett-Deaeth for allowing me to adopt him and give him a forever home.

This story warms my heart and is a perfect expression of what Valentine’s Day is all about. We get the animals out of harms way but that’s only part of rescue. The true rescuer is the one who adopts and works through the difficulties a rescue animal might have and loves them unconditionally the way Otis loves Redcloud. Have a heart, adopt, don’t shop. We have lots of dogs, cats and horses that need homes. Go to www.t-bar.org if you want to help rescue an animal.

Adopt Me! Winston

Winston-Adoptable-Dog-TBAR-01
Winston was found on the streets broken and beaten. Lucky for him he ended up with a foster Mom who is also a nurse. She helped him become physically and mentally healthy and ready for a new home. She was fine with fostering him and loving him until his perfect owner came along but then her health declined and she’s not sure how long she can keep him. Please read what she wrote about Winston and share till his forever home is found. Email [email protected] to adopt Winston

Winston is a definite old soul but loves to chew, gnaw, sun bathe and chase his toys around. He also loves his clothes (sweaters, T shirts, and jerseys) and don’t try to take his collar with tags off, he freaks out. He surely knows how to entertain himself as well. He loves to cuddle, go on walks, car rides and hog any bed.

He absolutely LOVES people. He doesn’t particularly feel safe with other dogs yet but has made long strides with this process. I remove all food, toys/ bones and his lock his crate when other dogs are around to ensure he feels comfortable and not insecure due to his past. He is not good with cats, since he chases them out of my yard. He is a protector for sure, especially within the house and yard.
He will be the perfect home protector and companion with any person that is seeking a single companion or one animal home.
Winston-Adoptable-Dog-TBAR-02

I have had Winston since February 2015. He is up to date on shots, heart worm negative and has been altered. Please note that he loves children however I would say that he would probably be better off with pre teens and older since he does enjoy to play tug of war with his rope toys.

The perfect parent for this fur baby will receive all of his clothing, crate, bowls, portable water bowl for walks, toys, bones, both his beds and food once he is adopted to ease the transition of his FUREVER parent(s) or family.

Event Recap: Chili Cookoff 2016

The chili cookoff was a huge success! The weather was fantastic so a lot of people rode or drove out to say hello, meet our dogs, eat some chili and bid on our wonderful silent auction items. Thanks to all of you we raised a LOT of money to pay vet bills this year. Thank you to all the wonderful TBAR volunteers for working so hard to make this event a huge success. We are all thankful to Independence Harley Davidson for hosting the event and to CASI for organizing chili cookers. Thank you to Leannasaurus Rex for the excellent music and to all of the chili judges for testing and selecting the best chili of the day. We had more chili cookers this year then ever before so it must have been a difficult task. In True Blue Animal Rescue we face a lot of challenges and see a lot of the negative things that people do to animals. Seeing the huge gathering of good people that care about animals and come out to help gives us renewed faith! Thanks for reminding us that good people that care far outweigh the bad. Knowing that keeps us pushing forward toward our mission to END abuse, neglect and overpopulation and we will never give up until that happens. Thank you for being a part of our team!
