Success Story Update: True Seven (now Pablo)

TBAR-Success-Throwback-PabloNothing makes us happier than to hear from people who have adopted in the past and send us pictures of their rescue kids with their forever family. Here’s one of those pictures that touches my heart in a special way. Pablo Redcloud aka True Seven, Picasso and Tejas came to TBAR as a baby. He went to several foster homes and was even adopted but he had some bad habits that were tough to break and he managed to out smart his people every single time. The last time he came back we sent him to Juan Vendrell for training and that helped a lot but his antics were still too much for the next adopter too. Even though Pablo was too much for them they didn’t give up on this beautiful boy and sent him to another trainer. This trainer was Otis Dyer. Otis is a gifted trainer who didn’t give up on Redcloud and continued working with him and eventually fell in love with him and decided to adopt him for himself. Here’s what Otis has to say about Redcloud now:
I have really become fond of my rescue horse Pablo Redcloud. He has become a trusted partner and a good friend, plus a fun ride. I’m glad I was able to adopt him, we are a good fit. Thank you Dan Matula and Melanie Hewett-Deaeth for allowing me to adopt him and give him a forever home.

This story warms my heart and is a perfect expression of what Valentine’s Day is all about. We get the animals out of harms way but that’s only part of rescue. The true rescuer is the one who adopts and works through the difficulties a rescue animal might have and loves them unconditionally the way Otis loves Redcloud. Have a heart, adopt, don’t shop. We have lots of dogs, cats and horses that need homes. Go to www.t-bar.org if you want to help rescue an animal.

Success Story: Nina

TBAR-Success-Nina-Dog-AdoptedThe chili cookoff at Independence Harley Davidson was a great fundraiser and a fabulous adoption day too! Our dogs got a lot of attention and this sweet girl, Nina, found her forever family too! Here’s a picture of Nina with her new Mom and Dad and brother Jack. If it all works out Nina’s new name might be Jill. (Jack and Jill) How cute is that!
Please consider adopting one of our rescue pets. Go to www.t-bar.org and take a look at the dogs, cats and horses that are waiting for their forever home.

Event Recap: Chili Cookoff 2016

The chili cookoff was a huge success! The weather was fantastic so a lot of people rode or drove out to say hello, meet our dogs, eat some chili and bid on our wonderful silent auction items. Thanks to all of you we raised a LOT of money to pay vet bills this year. Thank you to all the wonderful TBAR volunteers for working so hard to make this event a huge success. We are all thankful to Independence Harley Davidson for hosting the event and to CASI for organizing chili cookers. Thank you to Leannasaurus Rex for the excellent music and to all of the chili judges for testing and selecting the best chili of the day. We had more chili cookers this year then ever before so it must have been a difficult task. In True Blue Animal Rescue we face a lot of challenges and see a lot of the negative things that people do to animals. Seeing the huge gathering of good people that care about animals and come out to help gives us renewed faith! Thanks for reminding us that good people that care far outweigh the bad. Knowing that keeps us pushing forward toward our mission to END abuse, neglect and overpopulation and we will never give up until that happens. Thank you for being a part of our team!

Pet of the Week: Harry

TBAR-Pet-of-the-Week-HarryThis week’s pet of the week is a Harry. Harry is a Thoroughbred gelding. He is almost 16 hands tall and is a very sweet boy. He is about 15 years old, sweet and gentle with people and kids. He leads well and stands for a farrier. He has had some wonderful natural horsemanship training and will accept a saddle and the weight of a rider but needs an experienced rider to finish his training to get him trail ready. If you are interested in this beautiful bay colored horse please email us at [email protected] or call 936-878-2349 so we can tell you more about him and help you through the adoption process. Please consider adopting before you purchase an animal. Each adoption makes room for us to rescue another animals. Go to www.t-bar.org to view other animals for adoption.

Pet of the week: Binion (horse)

Binion-TBAR-Horse-AdoptableMeet Binion. This poor horse’s owner died and nobody knew he was there. When Austin Co. law enforcement saw him a family member was found so he could decide what to do. His options were, sending him to auction which would mean he’d end up at a kill pen, euthanasia, or rescue. That’s when we were contacted! Like most rescues our foster homes are full but how could we say no to this sweet horse. He is now being seen by a vet and preparing to go into a foster home.
This is only one of many other horses that need us so we need your help. If you are thinking about getting a horse but aren’t sure, become a foster home. We’ll support you by offering advice and providing vet care for the horse. You just provide food and love. As a foster home it’s not forever and we can get them moved to another foster or find them an adoptive home. Then again, if it works out and you decide to adopt, you have first option to do that!! You might not want to start with a horse that needs rehabilitation like Binion but we have LOTS of other wonderful horses that are healthy and evaluated and just need you! Take a look at our web site and see if there’s one you’d like to foster. Then email us at [email protected] and we’ll walk you through the approval process. It’s that easy! www.t-bar.org
